Is it expensive to hire an attorney?
Unfortunately lawyer’s fees are not covered by insurance, so having to hire an attorney is hard on a budget. However, if you are facing a criminal charge or the possibility of losing custody of your children, it is a small price to pay for the peace of mind of knowing someone is on your side.
I don’t have to have an attorney, do I?
In most cases, the answer is “no” you don’t have to have one. However, be warned that if you are up against someone with an attorney or are being prosecuted, you are at a disadvantage. There are places online and books you can get to help you. I don’t advise it. Sometimes it will work out for you, but if it doesn’t, it will be too late when you are sitting in court and things aren’t going your way to ask for an attorney.
You are in Charleston, but my case is in another county. Can you still help me?
Yes, as long as the jurisdiction for your case is within South Carolina I can help you. Most of the cases I take are within Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties, but I do take cases in other counties as well.
